Peter Ebert's small-scale staging of Butterfly had been on tour continuously since Scottish Opera had started its Opera For All enterprise in the autumn of 1966. It was now receiving its final performances, as was the more recent production of Don Giovanni, reaching into the far southwest of England for the first time. In the autumn of 1969, the recent staging of Don Pasquale would be joined by new readings of La traviata and Martha.
The final tour itinerary for Butterfly is as follows: Jan & Feb tbc, 5 Mar (Plymouth), 12 Mar (Ilminster), 15 Mar (Wellington), 19 Mar (Liverpool), 20 Mar (Blackburn).
Further dates, cast details and precise venues to be confimed.
