In 1972, Scottish Opera made an unusual contribution to Clyde Fair in June, by staging a new production of Rossini's delightfully frothy late comedy Count Ory. After eleven performances spread around the Strathclyde area, the staging entered the repertoire for the last Opera For All tour, along with Lucia and Rigoletto. There were a further six performances through the autumn and seven in the New Year - as with Rigoletto, there were twenty-four in all.
The Clyde Fair dates were: 15 Jun (Motherwell), 16 Jun (East Kilbride), 18 Jun (Dunoon), 19 Jun (Kilmarnock), 21 Jun (Clydebank), 22 Jun (Rothesay), 23 Jun (Bearsden), 26 Jun (Helensburgh), 27 Jun (Greenock), 28 Jun (Maybole), 29 Jun (Cumnock).
The autumn itinerary was: 8 Nov (Linlithgow), 18 Nov (Dumfries), 24 Nov (Aberdeen), 30 (North Berwick), 8 Dec (Nairn), 13 Dec (Thurso).
