The only unusual feature of Opera Camerata's traditional double-bill was that the customary order was reversed, with Cavalleria played after the interval. The orchestral reduction by Tony Burke was used, and the band of twenty-one came over well in the intimate Church Hill Theatre acoustic. The unit set of vaguely Sicilian masonry had been just as useful earlier in Pagliacci, and was effectively lit. The expected musical elements made their effect, with a rousing Easter Hymn. Alison Beck and Katrine Townhill were especially impressive among the soloists.
