J W Turner had brought his company to Scotland regularly over the previous fifteen years with its repertoire of popular hits. Govan may have seemed off the beaten track, but it probably gave the company access to an audience that tended not to frequent the central Glasgow houses.
A programme in the OperaScotland collection gives casts for the first three evenings of the Govan visit, with Maritana on Monday, Daughter of the Regiment on Tuesday and this Bo Girl on the Wednesday.
The following month (week commencing 20 October) they were in Dundee, with a programme that ran: Mon Maritana; Tue Daughter of the Regiment; Wed Maritana; Thu Puritan's Daughter; Fri Faust; Sat Bohemian Girl.
