Cav & Pag have become surprisingly infrequent visitors to Scottish theatres. The last professional full-scale staging was in 1972, as part of a late Sadler's Wells tour. Scottish Opera's only attempt at this point had been a medium-scale version, and since then they have given a single concert performance. However the works remain popular with the various amateur groups, who perform them regularly. Edinburgh Grand chose to update this production to Sicily in the 1950s, with Lucia the owner of a café.
