This new production, which opened at the London Coliseum on 29 Sepptember 1971, was based on an interesting concept, with the double bill presented in post World War Two period. The players arrived in an old army-surplus truck, which they then used to generate power for stage lights, etc. It worked rather well. Setting it in the same village as the previous Cav, with the same villagers milling around was also quite convincing.
The schedule for the fortnight was:
Week commencing 24 April: Mon Cav & Pag; Tue Seraglio; Wed Carmen; Thu Duke Bluebeard's Castle & Oedipus Rex; Fri Cav & Pag; Sat Twilight of the Gods.
Week commencing 1 May: Mon Carmen; Tue Duke Bluebeard & Oedipus; Wed Cav & Pag; Thu Seraglio; Fri Carmen; Sat Twilight.
