OperaScotland has stopped listing screenings and streamings of opera unless they seem particularly exceptional, and the annual BP Big Screen show live from Covent Garden to Duthie Park, Aberdeen certainly is. This year it was Verdi's La traviata. As is customary now, there is only one screening of opera in Scotland, but it is undoubtedly the best free event of the summer.
The photos convey something of the special atmosphere in this annual event. People come with friends, a picnic and get there early for pre-performance screenings packed with exclusive content 30 minutes before curtain-up.
