Aria Alba – Opera for All bring their new and exciting abridged production of Mozart’s Idomeneo to Fringe 2018. Their reimagining finds us in a Republican state with Idomeneo, the despotic potentate being coerced by an even bigger despot to kill Idomeneo’s son, Idamante (secretly Democrat), to pay a favour. Idomeneo lies to protect Idamante. Ilia (Democrat) secretly loves Idamante. Her tough opposition is embittered Republican Elettra. The lies are found out, the people turn from Idomeneo. Idamante and Ilia stage a coup. It’s a political rollercoaster. Don’t miss it!
