The Scotsman reviewed the Edinburgh performance on 4 April and the Glasgow one on 11 April; some cast changes were apparent from the limited information given.

A fine performance was reported before a large audience in Glasgow.  Apart from the principals listed in Edinburgh, other artistes in the Glasgow cast included Philip Bertram.  The Herald reviewer pointed out that the new Micaëla, Viola Hogg 'sang with the right sweetness of temperament in the first act but failed to suggest the very different situation in Act III.   A gentle creature like Micaëla should be terrified amongst that stormy group of smugglers.'

Carl Rosa Opera's Scottish visit in 1938 consisted of one week in Edinburgh, followed by two weeks in Glasgow.
