The review in the Scotsman (11 April) provides cast details and comments:-
"The Carl Rosa Opera's performance of Faust at the King's Theatre last night maintained the high standard set by this season's performances as a whole. It is, indeed, gratifying to find a company with such an honourable and long-standing tradition as this one, not only living up to its past achievements, but improving on them, and setting new standards for itself in production and general musical efficiency."
"John Myrrdin was a highly satisfactory Faust within Gounod's now well-known limits. He has the advantage too, of a new production by Powell Lloyd, in which some of the transformation business of the first scene has been replaced by a more convincing stage technique, and in which the Market Place scene painted by Alick Johnstone gives, by skilful colour and lighting, an airy sense of distance, combined with a quite charming realism."
