The Scotsman reviewer (31 March) praised Ruth Packer. "She has gone from strength to strength this week and could rarely on any occasion have been faulted. Her first-class acting, fine presence and vivacity were well matched by fine singing in the name part.  In this, she was not quite equalled by her fellow principals who, while singing well enough, fell somewhat short by under acting their parts. Otherwise John Myrrdin as Cavaradossi and Arthur Fear as Scarpia were most satisfactory."

Other parts were competently filled. Dr Berend's conducting too drew praise.
