The Glasgow cast was advertised in Saturday morning's Herald as including Doris Woodall, Howard Davies, Frank Clarke, Beatrice Miranda, conductor Goossens.  The short notice in Monday's Daily Record omits the conductor and corrects the tenor's first name, but gives no further data.

A Brief Glasgow Review

Daily Record:  Monday, 9 March 1914  (p3)

Carl Rosa Opera

'Il Trovatore, given on Saturday evening at the Glasgow Thheatre Royal, brought the first week of the Carl Rosa opera fortnight  to a close.  There was a crush to hear this mediocre opera which was adequately, but certainly not brilliantly performed.

'Miss Miranda as Leonora sang the popular numbers with success although suffering from slight huskiness.  Miss Doris Woodall made the gipsy a real flesh and blood part;  the Manrico of Mr Edward Davies was satisfactory, and Mr Frank Clarke's singing as the Count was very agreeable.

'To-night Carmen will be given.'
