Malcolm Fraser had worked with most of the major organizations down south. However he was perhaps best known for his direction of the early Buxton Festivals. His productions there included Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas (1980) with Thomas Allen and Josephine Veasey; Griselda by Vivaldi (1983) with Cynthia Buchan and John Mitchinson, and Médée by Luigi Cherubini (1984) with Rosalind Plowright.
