Perhaps the link to opera or operetta is slightly tenuous - right at the end, two classic Offenbach items followed by two of Oscar Straus. The afternoon began with eleven Strauss songs, and the party pieces after the interval included groups of three by Poulenc and Hahn. This was a blissful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
