Hans Richter would dominate British musical life up to the outbreak of the First World War.  While he conducted much opera in London, including the first Ring cycles in 1908, Scottish audiences appear to have heard just 'bleeding chunks' from the masterworks,

Gluck:  Aria 'Che farò senza Euridice' Orpheus.

Beethoven:  Overture Leonore No3  (By special desire).

Mozart:   Aria 'Parto, parto' La clemenza di Tito.

Wagner:  Walkürenritt Die Walküre.

Beethoven:   Symphony no3 in C minor.
