This 1876 tour by Emily Soldene's company added to the expected Offenbach works a recently-composed curtain-raiser brought into being by her manager friend Richard D'Oyly Carte.  This was the first  appearance in Scotland of a work by the newly-established partnership of William S Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.

Here it was used as a curtain-raiser for Offenbach's comic opera Madame L'Archiduc.
