These performances were the first for some time in Scotland. The standard of singing was good, though acting was more successful among those playing closer to their own age - students do sometimes find playing characters and children is a challenge. For the first time, the Academy mounted a semi-staged performance in the Perth Concert Hall. The stage was wide enough to accommodate two scenes side by side, with the orchestra behind. This trip was a useful precedent for future touring, though on this occasion the audience was probably smaller than management would have hoped. It also gave all the singers the useful experience of adapting to a voiceless colleague acting the role while another excellent voice came from behind them.
