Works by Janacek, Richard Strauss and Handel in the curent season of Scottish Opera will be discussed in detail before their Edinburgh Festival Theatre performances along with othe roperas and cinema showings in Edinburgh, including those from the New York Met and radio broadcasts.
The history of opera and the art of great singing are subjects also included. Lectures are informal, designed both for newcomer for opera and for opera lovers wishing to re-acquaint themselves with details, and are illustrated with piano, recordings, visual material and DVDs. Special offers of CDs, DVDs and books are available to the class.
Refreshments will be available, and sessions will end by 9.15pm. Evening parking is free and plentiful.
Please note the meting room is up a flight of stairs and there is, unfortunately, no disabled access.
