Madam Butterfly 1908Moody-Manners Opera Company

Read more about the opera Madama Butterfly

For the second tour that included Madam Butterfly the Moody-Manners company made its first journey north of the central belt, with a week each in Aberdeen and Dundee. With the exception of the new Sharpless, the cast is identical to the team for the previous season's Scottish premiere. However by the autumn there were other singers prepared to take the major roles. The title role seems to have quickly become a favourite one for the company's leading lady.

The full casts are as shown in programmes for 5 March and 16 October in the Mitchell Library, and for 13 March in Aberdeen City Library. Major roles are as specified in reviews in the Dundee Advertiser and Dundee Courier & Argus, for the performance on 20 March.
