The pit bands in Aberdeen and Dundee had both worked hard earlier in the week learning unfamiliar works like Aïda and Butterfly. There had followed the exertions of Lohengrin at the Saturday matinee. The final evening was therefore a popular favourite that was familiar to the band, and would need, or at least receive, minimal rehearsal.

The cast for 14 March is from a programme in the Aberdeen City Library. The five major roles were also mentioned in a preview in the Dundee Courier and Argus of the 21 March event.
