In 1876, Carl Rosa led his company back to Scotland for their first visit to Edinburgh during which they performed six times - no matinee.
There was only one performance of Faust. The Scotsman carried an advertisement on the morning of the performance, explaining "By permission of Major Percival and Officers, the Band of the 79th Highlanders, under the direction of Mr McDonald, Bandmaster, will assist in the Soldiers' Chorus".
