As always, Saturday evening was devoted to a popular favourite that everybody knew - The Bo Girl, Maritana, Trovatore, or, in Aberdeen and Dundee this time round, Faust. The critics could be relied on not to attend these events - there was little promotional value to the theatre in reviewing a company on Monday that had departed to pastures new the day before. And the complimentary seats given to critics were, in this instance, better employed being occupied by paying punters.
