After initial performances in Gaborone, followed by single evenings in Cambridge and Edinburgh, this was an opportunity to make this thoroughly enjoyable little work available to a wider audience. The opportunity was also taken to record it. Most of the soloists were students at the RSAMD, while the chorus was made up of a dozen students from Edinburgh. The designs were extremely simple, depending largely on head-dresses and makeup which immediately indicated elephant, giraffe or crane, as appropriate. The animals were further represented by simple movements that conjured up the appropriate fauna immediately. The slinky leopard was particularly effective. Whether this will continue to be performed is, so far, impossible to predict, but it was certainly a memorable event, received with enthusiasm.
