Ledlanet gave the first Scottish revival in modern times of this extremely difficult piece. Anne Conoley spent several years as a leading soprano with English National Opera. Christopher Seaman was conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra before moving to the USA, and Jonathan Hinden spent many years on the music staff at Glyndebourne.
Richard Angas was already well-established, but he continued to work well into the 21sr century at ENO and elsewhere.
Less than two years later, at the 1974 Edinburgh Festival, Scottish Opera would mount another production, but Alceste has still not become an accepted repertory opera..
