Gardyne Theatre Dundee

This venue was built as an integral part of the College of Education in Dundee, and hosted Scottish Opera's medium scale tours under that name from 1978. When the Dundee College merged with Aberdeen's to form the Northern College, the theatre was renamed as the Gardyne. This merger proved unsatisfactory, and the college was eventually subdivided once more, the Dundee branch being incorporated into the University of Dundee. The surplus Gardyne Road campus was then taken over by Dundee College and redeveloped to allow them to rationalise their activities, basing them on just two sites. The theatre in the Gardyne building was also renovated, re-opening in September 2011.
