It was built as a variety theatre in 1862 and opened as the New Royal Alhambra Music Hall, though it was not profitable. The name was changed in 1867, and the Royal Princess's operated as a theatre until 1886. there was then a change of use and the building was demolished in 1912 according to Bruce Peter's book on Theatres in Scotland.
