The Roman Catholic Catholic Cathedral is not to be confused with the hugely imposing Episcopal version, with its music school, in Palmerston Place.
Designed by James Gillespie Graham. it was opened in 1814 - see the website here.
By 1891 the Broughton Street building appears to be in some need of repair, as the result of which a fundraising concert was mounted by the Carl Rosa Opera Company. This included a performance of Rossini's Stabat Mater.
