Founded in 1998 by the impresario Peter Mulloy, the company performed operettas, both Viennese and G & S. The opening production was of Die Fledermaus, and subsequently the performances have been of Gilbert and Sullivan works in traditional productions, with the aim of introducing a new generation to operatic conventions.
Their fascinating staging of The Mikado was able to make use of facsimiles of the original sets and costumes made for Mike Leigh's film Topsy-Turvy. A production of The Merry Widow was also successful.
