International Celebrity Recital

This was one of a series of Celebrity Recitals given on a Sunday afternoon in the City Hall.  Berganza was on excellent form, and while her husband at that time may not have been a great virtuoso he was certainly an excellent pianist who had worked with her for many years.

The first part, consisting largely of Italian Arie antiche of the baroque period, was perfctly enjoyable.  However the second half, as with so many Spanish singers over the years, was a superbly enjoyable demonstration of some of the greatest of Spanish twentieth century art songs.
