English conductor.
David Gibson was a chorister and lay clerk at Chichester Cathedral, where he premiered the solo treble part in Bernstein's Chichester Psalms (1965) and he went on to study the organ at the Universities of London and Sussex.
His conducting career began wih post-graduate study and amongst other positions he was Conductor of the Southampton Philharmonic and Musical Director of the Occam Singers and the New London Sinfonia which he founded in 1986. His opera credits include being Guest Conductor of the Maryland Lyric Opera in Washington DC and Musical Director of Opera South. He also made several appearances on radio and television.
