Victoria Elliott was a leading member of the Sadler's Wells company for several years. She studied with Rosetta Pampanini, and was with Carl Rosa 1945-7. Starting in the chorus, she very quickly graduated to singing principal roles including Marguerite, Gilda, Mimì, and Butterfly.
From 1947-51 she concentrated on concert and oratorio work before joining Sadler’s Wells in 1952 to sing leading lyric parts, including Tosca, Violetta, Butterfly, Mařenka, Leonora, Tatyana, Rosalinde and Maddalena di Coigny. She created the role of Emma Hamilton in Lennox Berkeley's Nelson (1954).
Her only Covent Garden appearances were as Lady Macbeth and Santuzza in the 1959/60 season. In the later 1960s and 70s she toured widely in concerts of Viennese operetta. She can be heard as Rosalinde in the Sadler’s Wells recording of excerpts from Fledermaus.
