Korean baritone.
Josef Jeongmin Ahn studied at the Seoul National University and at the Mainz School of Music. He also trained in Munich at the University of Performing Arts and at the August Everding Bavarian Theatre Academy. He continued his training in London at the National Opera Studio and graduated from the Royal Opera's Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in Summer 2024.
Roles for the Royal Opera include Handel (Segeste Arminio); Rossini (Fiorello); DvoĆák (Huntsman Rusalka); Puccini (Schaunard, Angelotti, Yamadori).
He has worked with Scottish Opera as Malatesta Don Pasquale and in a Tchaikovsky concert. He has also sung with Opera North (Marcello).
Operatic parts elsewhere include the Bregenz Festival (Dandini La cenerentola); Toulon (Figaro Il barbiere di Siviglia); Vienna Volksoper (Douphol La traviata); Seoul SeAH Woon Hyung Lee Foundation (Enrico Lucia di Lammermoor).
He has appeared in recital at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin.
The Royal Opera staging of Madama Butterfly has been issued on DVD.
