Andrew Shore has appeared with all the major British opera companies, as well as enjoying an international career including the New York Met, La Scala Milan and the Bayreuth Festival. He studied theology at the University of Bristol, before training in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music, then at the London Opera Centre. His debut in 1977 was touring with Opera for All (Fiorello Barber of Seville).
International appearances include Bayreuth (Alberich), Frankfurt (Alberich), Boston (Bottom), Santa Fe (Don Pasquale), Vancouver (Bartolo), Ottawa (Bartolo), Buenos Aires Colón (Alberich), Barcelona (Alberich), Dutch Nat Op (Baritone roles Death in Venice).
Appearances with British companies include ENO (Don Alfonso, Papageno, Frank, Falstaff, Don Pasquale, Death in Venice, Bartolo Barber of Seville, Beckmesser, Maj-Gen Stanley, Melitone, title role Jacob Lenz (Rihm). He has also worked with Kent Opera (Figaro Marriage, Atkins Robinson Crusoe, Bartolo Barber, Papageno, Selim Seraglio, Lesbo Agrippina), WNO (Bartolo Barber of Seville), Opera North (Dodon, Leandro), Glyndebourne (Falstaff, Gedge, Don Alfonso, Bartolo Marriage of Figaro), Royal Opera (Trombonok Il Viaggio a Reims).
Appearances with Scottish Opera began in 1987 with Baron Gondremarck La Vie parisienne, and Mr Flint Billy Budd, returning as Don Alfonso, Faber The Knot Garden and Pooh-Bah. He has visited the Edinburgh Festival with Kent Opera, Opera North and several of the Festival's own concert performances.
