Peter Jeffes studied in London at the Royal College of Music and in Rome with Paolo Silveri. He also won a Gulbenkian Foundation Fellowship.
He worked with most of the British opera companies. Early appearances included Kent Opera (The Magic Flute), Handel Opera Society (Hercules) and English National Opera (The Barber of Seville). Further operatic work in Britain included roles at the Buxton Festival and Opera North, as well as Scottish Opera.
He worked with particular success in France, appearing in several major houses. His American debut was in La fille du régiment with Boston Opera.
