Died Motherwell 2016.
Scottish baritone.
Ronald Morrison spent most of his working life as a teacher of Classics in Motherwell.
As a singer, Morrison made an important contribution to music in Scotland, both in concert and as a soloist with Scottish Opera. His roles included major parts by Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Wagner, Verdi, Sullivan, Puccini and Britten. With that company he sang in the premieres of Full Circle (Robin Orr 1968) and The Undertaker (John Purser 1969). He also created the title role in The Charcoal Burner by Thomas Wilson (1969 BBC Radio).
A role he sang over many seasons was that of Mr Gedge, the vicar, in Albert Herring, which saw him also working with Phoenix Opera.
