Brenda Hurley has had a long and successful career working with major opera houses around the world.

As of July 2020 she took up the position of Head of Opera at the Royal Academy of Music.  From 2012 she was Director of the International Opera Studio at the Zürich Opera.

She spent a period working as a coach and repetiteur with Scottish Opera, during which she was accompanist on two hugely successful Opera-Go-Round tours, Macbeth and Jenůfa.  She then moved to ENO for three years.  During 15 seasons working at Glyndebourne, she was awarded the Jani Strasser Medal for best repetiteur in 1995.  She also spent nine seasons at the Salzburg Festival and four at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
