Irish soprano.
Orla Boylan enjoys a distinguished international career in a wide range of dramatic soprano repertoire. In the UK she has performed leading operatic roles with Garsington, Glyndebourne, ENO, Opera North, Scottish Opera and Opera Northern Ireland. She has also worked with Opera Ireland.
European operatic appearances include Austria (Salzburg Festival); Denmark (Copenhagen); France (Lyon); Germany (Berlin Deutsche & Komische Oper, Cologne, Hamburg) and Italy (Teatro alla Scala, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino). Further afield she has sung in Perth (Western Australian Opera); Auckland (New Zealand Opera); New York (City Opera) and Buenos Aires (Teatro Colón).
She is particularly noted for interpretations of Britten (Ellen Orford, Female Chorus, Governess, Lady Billows, Miss Wingrave); Janáček (Jenůfa, Katya); Puccini (Tosca, Turandot); Strauss (Chrysothemis, Ariadne, Arabella, Danaë); Tchaikovsky (Tatyana, Lisa) and Wagner (Senta, Sieglinde).
Her wide concert repertoire includes Britten War Requiem (Sydney, Auckland, Strasbourg); Mahler Symphony no8 (Salt Lake City); Verdi Messa da Requiem (Hallé, St Paul's Cathedral); Wagner Wesendock Lieder (RTE Dublin, Hallé, Ulster Orch).
