Signor Barbato toured the UK as a member of the Castellano Italian company, when he received a very positive reception by the critics. He had a powerful, dramatic tenore robusto, specialising in roles such as Donizetti (Edgardo); Verdi (Manrico); Bizet (Don José); Leoncavallo (Canio); and Mascagni (Turiddu).
