This fascinating weekend of musicmaking was every bit as enjoyable as its predecessors. The orchestra, as before, contained good amateur and semi-professional players as well as professionals, united by the one thing - the desire to play music unlikely to come their way with any regularity.

It was also good to see singers returning after performing in previous years. And not just various Valkyries - the Brünnhilde, Siegfried and Alberich from last year's Siegfried also returned.

Magdalene Ashman, Fricka in Die Walküre two years ago, returned to sing Waltraute. She has recently been awarded one of the Susan Chilcott Scholarships for 2011.
