The programme for 5 November in the archives of the Edinburgh Room of Edinburgh Central Library contains this quotation from the 'Manchester Guardian'.
"Opportunties for hearing this magnificent work have of late years been so rare that it was scarcely a surprise for us to find on entering the theatre on Friday evening that every seat in the theatre was occupied. Mr Rosa is never content with inferior performances, and had made ample provision for more than mere efficiency by arranging the cast for the week. The three sopranos, Donna Elvira, Donna Anna and Zerlina, have seldom found more competent representatives than Mesdames Blanche Cole, Georgina Burns and Julia Gaylord respectively."
