This lively student production meant that La Calisto was the third of Cavalli's operas to be staged in Scotland. The previous two had been mounted by Scottish Opera in the successful editions by Raymond Leppard, but this was the first occasion on which something perhaps closer to the style of Cavalli's own day was heard, though whether the actual singing and staging fitted that description was perhaps debatable.
