5:15 (2)
This piece was placed second on the programme of five new operas in the second Five:15 season. It therefore formed an interlude of relative calm in the first half. Peter Carey, author of the source work, is now a renowned author, though this story naturally made less impact than his famous novels. A simple duologue, the work fitted the required format well, being perhaps the only one that felt naturally contained within its fifteen minute span. Perhaps for that same reason it made rather less impression at the time, in spite of a high-quality performance.
