Read more about the opera Pagliacci

Pagliacci had been introduced to Scotland a few months earlier by the Covent Garden company of Sir Augustus Harris, who had sung in Italian. Carl Rosa not only provided in clear English an excellent cast, including the charming Zélie de Lussan, but also paired it with a real novelty in the form of Mascagni's latest work, I Rantzau.
