As part of the usual three-week Edinburgh season (starting on 22 November), Pirates was preceded by Trial By Jury. Darrell Fancourt, Sydney Granville and Martyn Green spent many years with the company singing leading roles. However their service was insignificant compared with that of conductor Isidore Godfrey, who directed musical affairs for some forty years.
