The Covent Garden English Opera Company, in conjunction with the Imperial League of Opera, appeared at the Edinburgh King's for a week, giving seven performances as follows:

Mon 7.15 Faust; Tue 7.30 Madam Butterfly; Wed 7.30 Die Fledermaus; Thu 7.15 Rigoletto; Fri 6.15 The Mastersingers; Sat mat 2.00 Cav & Pag; Sat eve 7.30 La Bohème.

The Scottish element of the tour also included a visit to Glasgow (details to be confirmed).

The Artistic Adviser was Sir Thomas Beecham, and The London Philharmonic Orchestra was in the pit, or at least a 'Section B' band playing under that name.

This Butterfly cast is from our copy of the programme. The Scottish soprano Noel Eadie and the contralto Constance Willis had both sung leading roles with BNOC and at Glyndebourne. Percy Heming was also a BNOC veteran, and was now described as Artistic Organiser.
