The Edinburgh leg of the autumn 1935 D'Oyly Carte tour lasted for three weeks, commencing Monday 28 October.

The cast taken from our programme for 30 October includes several long-standing stars of the company, including Darrell Fancourt, Sydney Granville and Leslie Rands. Martyn Green had not long taken over the roles inhabited for decades by Sir Henry Lytton. There is also an early appearance by a young singer, using the name Drummond Grant, who would, in the fifties, be the company's leading contralto.
