Henze's excellent and gripping staging of Elegy was revived for a final run of seven performances as part of a continental tour. This began in Lisbon before moving on to Germany for performances in Stuttgart and Nürnberg/Fürth, where John Robertson was required to go on for one of the last performances.

The other production taken was The Turn of the Screw, which also received a performance at Leverkusen just a few weeks before that opera house burned down.
