Mikado 1989D'Oyly Carte Opera Company

Read more about the opera Mikado

The first Scottish visit of the New D'Oyly Carte Opera Company was to Aberdeen with a repertoire of The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado. John Wells, directing the latter, probably had the more difficult task, with Jonathan Miller's radical reworking for ENO a recent arrival on the scene. Even so, the staging seemed fresh and it was musically excellent.

Further dates to be added.
