In Glasgow, after the exertions of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the audience were given a day off before reconvening for Twilight of the Gods at three on the Saturday afternoon. This meant a conveniently early finish to the cycle, with carriages at eight-thirty.
Of the cast, Agnes Nicholls will have been refreshed, not having sung since Wednesday - in Manchester the week before she had sung all three Brünnhildes, but omitted Siegfried in Glasgow. Edna Thornton, however, had worked hard during both cycles, not just singing Erda, but also Flosshilde and Waltraute. On this last evening she sang three roles - a Norn, a Valkyrie and a Rhinemaiden.
Cast details are taken from a copy of the Glasgow Prospectus in Dundee Central Library, confirmed by reference to a Manchester poster in Manchester City Library.
