The Mikado was, then as now, the most popular of the G & S repertoire. It was the only work to receive three performances in each city, on the first Saturday matinee, then Monday and Thursday of the second week.

The cast is as detailed in an Aberdeen programme held in Dundee City Library. None of the Dundee critics reviewed their local casts, so at this stage we do not yet know who substituted for the flu-stricken Edward McKeown and Ella Quartly at the second venue.
